April 22 Event to Consist of Recognition of Local Individuals and Businesses that Serve as Shining Examples of Environmental Stewardship as well as Tribute to Outgoing Executive Director Connie Wiggins for 30 Years of Service to the Community-Focused Nonprofit Organization
Duluth, Georgia, April 7, 2016 – If the environment has taught Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful (GCB) anything over the last 35 years of operation, it’s that things change. This year marks a well-deserved change for longtime Executive Director, Connie Wiggins. As she embarks on a new chapter in her life, she leaves GCB in the capable hands of its Board of Directors and seasoned staff. On Friday, April 22 – which just so happens to commemorate Earth Day – GCB will play host to its Annual Awards Dinner at Infinite Energy Forum. The evening’s festivities will include a very special tribute to Wiggins, as well as the recognition of a group of caring individuals and local businesses that serve as shining examples of environmental stewardship to the rest of the Gwinnett County community.
Bartow Morgan, GCB Chairman of the Board had this to say about Wiggins’ departure, “We are truly thankful to Connie for an amazing 30 years of service to our organization and our community. During that time, she championed countless campaigns and garnered numerous awards on behalf of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. She was never one to sit idly by, often jumping in and getting her hands and clothes dirty during a cleanup event – smiling ear-to-ear all the while. We look forward to paying tribute to her, while also recognizing the efforts of other amazing citizens and businesses in Gwinnett County.”
As an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful has been awarded an astounding 65 national awards, with a total of 128 awards overall. Looking ahead to the future, GCB’s devoted staff and Board of Directors are excited to carry on the community-focused non-profit organization’s legacy of excellence and dedication to making Gwinnett County one of America’s cleanest, greenest and most beautiful places to live, visit, play and do business.
Annual Awards Dinner festivities kick off with a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and awards ceremony. A more intimate farewell “beach” party will follow at the 1818 Club to bid bon voyage to Wiggins. To attend this unforgettable event, RSVP online through the GCB website at www.gwinnettcb.org no later than April 11.
