Forecast of Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Forces Move from Original Treecycling Event Date of January 21
Lawrenceville, Ga. – January 20, 2017 – Due to a less than ideal forecast of thunderstorms and heavy rain, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is rescheduling its Bring One for the Chipper treecycling event from the original date of January 21 to Saturday, January 28. Taking place at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville from 8 to 11 a.m., Bring One for the Chipper transforms donated live Christmas trees into mulch for use in landscape projects throughout the county.
“We regret any inconvenience the rescheduling of Bring One for the Chipper may cause our partners and volunteers, but the safety of all involved is paramount,” explained Schelly Marlatt, Executive Director for GCB. “We hope that all of our volunteers will still be able to join us on January 28, and will even help us spread the word. Our Bring One for the Chipper volunteers help us make sure the trees are free of any decorations and stands, and then haul the trees over one-by-one to the chipper. The mulch we create that day will line pathways at public parks, flower beds around public buildings and schools, and so much more.”
Bring One for the Chipper volunteers can include individuals, families*, school groups, civic groups, companies, and neighborhood associations – among others. To volunteer, interested parties must register online at www.GwinnettCB.org and download a Volunteer Release Form to bring with them to the event.
