Community-Focused Nonprofit Teams Up with Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services with Curbside Collection and Donation Drop Box to Benefit the Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center
Lawrenceville, Ga. – September 16, 2021 – With Veterans Day just around the corner on November 11, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is proud to team up with the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services to show its support for local veterans during Great Days of Service 2021. Between September 21 and October 21, the eco-centric, community-focused nonprofit will collect items at One Justice Square Building in Lawrenceville to benefit the Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center (GVRC). The Gwinnett Coalition’s GVRC seeks to meet the needs of veterans and their military families by providing information, referrals, and resources in a welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice to our country.
“We are extraordinarily proud to give back to these brave souls who have given so much to our country,” said Schelly Marlatt, Executive Director of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. “The recent evacuation from Kabul and the heartbreaking loss of 13 young service members served as a stark reminder that our active-duty military and veterans are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for us and our allies. Great Days of Service is a wonderful time for our organization to join together with our neighbors throughout Gwinnett County to say thank you for their service, sacrifice and selflessness through the provision of items our local veterans desperately need.”
Among the items Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful will be collecting in September and October are:
- Bottled Water
- Hand Sanitizer
- Non-perishable Microwavable Meals
- Plastic Cutlery
- Travel Size Lotion, Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash
The items listed above can be dropped off at One Justice Square Building – located at 446 West Crogan Street in Lawrenceville. Between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays beginning September 21, donors can simply bring their donations into the lobby and place them in clearly marked collection bins or call (770) 822-5187 to have donations collected curbside. GC&B asks that anyone who wishes to have their donation collected curbside to please call to schedule a time and date or call 30 minutes in advance of their arrival if dropping off the same day.
“In addition to donations, we’re also asking the public to help spread the word so we can make as big an impact as possible on behalf of our local veterans,” added Marlatt. “No donation is too big or small! Also, where our local high school students are concerned, we understand that with Covid community volunteer opportunities may be challenging to find. So, for every five items they donate, we will give them one hour of community service. For those who wish to make an additional impact to support the mission of the Gwinnett Veteran Resource Center, please visit GwinnettVRC.org online to learn about volunteer opportunities. Thank you in advance, Gwinnett, for joining us in this important endeavor!”
