Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful to Celebrate America Recycles Day with November Community Recycling Event

Environmentally Focused Nonprofit Teams Up with Solid Waste Management to Accept Tires, Electronics, Paint, Paper, Clothing, and Sneakers at Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on November 7

Lawrenceville, Ga. – October 8, 2026 – Commemorated annually on November 15 by millions all across the nation, America Recycles Day is a Keep America Beautiful (KAB) initiative that promotes recycling. It’s a day to spread the word about how recycling reduces waste, saves energy, and conserves precious resources. For Gwinnett County’s contribution to the celebration, KAB affiliate Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful (GC&B) will partner with Gwinnett County Solid Waste Management to host an America Recycles Day event at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 7. Between 9 a.m. and noon, Gwinnett County residents are invited to drop off select hard-to-recycle items that are not accepted curbside.

“At Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, we are all about Connecting People and Resources for a Sustainable Gwinnett,” said Schelly Marlatt, Executive Director of the eco-focused nonprofit. “Each year, our America Recycles Day event serves as a shining example of our mission in action. We bring our neighbors together with Solid Waste Management, haulers, and a variety of recycling partners. Unfortunately, we can’t host events like this every month. When Gwinnett County citizens are unsure where to take their hard-to-recycle items that aren’t accepted curbside, I want to encourage them to use the Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful website as a resource. On our recycling page, they can type the material they’re trying to recycle into our search bar, and they’ll be directed to a number of locations that accept them.”

Items that will be collected during the Gwinnett County America Recycles Day event on November 7 include:

  • Paper for shredding – participants are asked to limit their paper to five copier paper boxes
  • Electronics – Recycling is free except for TVs, monitors, and printers – ($15 cash fee per monitor or regular TV; $5 cash fee per printer). Projectors/Console TVs will be accepted for a $35 cash fee
  • Paint – Oil-based and latex paint will be accepted during the event, but participants are asked to limit their paint to 10 gallons per vehicle. Empty or rusted paint cans will not be accepted, and cans must contain at least 25% wet paint to be recycled
  • Tires – Participants are asked to limit their drop-off to 8 tires per vehicle. No dealer tires will be accepted, and tires must have rims removed and be free of water and debris
  • Gently Used Clothes and Sneakers

Participants should bear in mind that boxes and containers will NOT be returned, so they may wish to use disposable containers for their collected items. To ensure another successful America Recycles Day event this year, Marlatt has issued a call for volunteers. Anyone 16 and older who is interested in volunteering can register at https://cerv.is/0024×5496. Volunteers should plan to be on-site from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gwinnett County Fairgrounds is located at 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville. Participants are asked to enter at the traffic light off Sugarloaf Parkway.

Before 2026 ends, GC&B has a few more events up its sleeve. The America Recycles Day-themed beer – ReBREWable Energy – will once again be available at select breweries and beer vendors in November. A portion of the proceeds from each pint sold will benefit the eco-focused nonprofit. It will also partner with Yellow River Water Trail, Gwinnett Parks & Recreation, and Gwinnett Department of Water Resources for the Yellow River Trash Bash. Hosted on November 14, this year’s Bash will feature cleanups at two locations – Yellow River Park in Stone Mountain and Lilburn City Park. Lastly, for its annual “treecycling” event – Bring One for the Chipper, the collection of live Christmas trees will kick off on December 26, 2026, at select fire stations throughout the county. On January 23, 2027, the weeks-long tree collection culminates in a chipping event at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville. To learn more about upcoming events, prospective participants and volunteers are encouraged to bookmark the GC&B event calendar at www.GwinnettCB.org.
