This SoCal transplant has been a proud Georgia girl for the last 50 years, 32 of which have been in Gwinnett County. As a retired GCPS teacher who has worked with Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful in and out of the classroom for a quarter of a century, Chris Dilworth is an ideal fit to serve as our Green & Healthy Schools Program Coordinator. She loves incorporating environmental stewardship in all that she does. From an early age, Chris saw how much waste could be recycled or reused, especially in schools. To combat that, she started a paper recycling program in the 90s at the Gwinnett County school, where she was teaching while instilling in her students the importance of taking care of our environment.
As a single mom of two amazing teenagers, her family’s favorite park is Rabbit Hill Park in Dacula. Less than a mile from her home, Chris and her boys have spent countless years in that beautiful park as they played baseball, soccer, and now lacrosse there! She loves the walking trails and fondly remembers her ‘not-so-little-anymore’ guys learning to ride their bikes in the parking lot and around the pond. They’ve used the pavilions for Scouts, various parties, sports banquets, and a fun picnic lunch to escape the sun. She insists that the playground IS THE BEST! Her boys used to beg to go to the playground and play in the man-made stream right next to it. A trip to the playground always called for a towel and dry socks! The awesome volleyball courts were not there then, or her sons would surely have been covered in sand, too.
