In this special partnership workshop we will be teaming up with our friends at Jackson County and Keep Jackson County Beautiful at the new Tanner Park!
Georgia Adopt-a-Stream enables citizens to collect baseline water quality data to both observe the conditions of our local streams and become more aware of pollution and water quality issues. Unfortunately, many streams not currently meet established state water quality standards. That’s why we need your help!
You and your family, co-workers, group, etc. could serve as official “adopters” of a portion of a creek or stream by periodically monitoring its condition with supplies, training, and certifications in chemical, bacterial and macroinvertebrate testing provided by Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and the Department of Water Resources. To find out more about the Adopt-a-Stream program, visit gwinnettcb.org/adopt-a-stream/.
In this free training workshop, we will focus on both Bacterial and Chemical parameters of water quality, learning how to test the dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, and conductivity of the water, as well as monitoring E. coli levels. For the double class, expect a longer than normal workshop session. Please bring a water bottle, snacks, boots, bug spray, and comfortable attire as we will be entirely outdoors.
For any questions, please call 770.822.5187 or email gwinnettcb@gwinnettcb.org. If you are interested in attending, please register below!
Please note that for safety reasons, children under the age of 14 years old and pets are not allowed to attend the workshops.
