Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful to Play Host to the Governor and a Crowd of Community, Corporate, Educational and Environmental Leaders at Gas South District on August 12

Lawrenceville, Ga. – August 4, 2022 – The Governor’s Environmental Address is a 14-year tradition for eco-focused nonprofit, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. Slated to take place Friday, August 12 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gas South District in Duluth, a crowd of hundreds of community, corporate, educational and environmental leaders will be treated to lunch and an appearance by Governor Brian Kemp. Marking his second appearance behind the Environmental Address podium, Governor Kemp will take the stage to talk about strides being made toward a healthier environment as well as its impact on Georgia’s economy. The event will also comprise the announcement of this year’s Environmental Stewardship & Consciousness (ECoS) Awards. Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Environmental Director, Schelly Marlatt, invites local leaders and environmental stewards to attend the Address. A select number of tickets are still available for purchase through the Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful website.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn what our government is doing at the state level to ensure cleaner air, water and soil for future generations,” said Marlatt. “With so many opposing views swirling over the subject of climate change, it’s really nice to hear some good news for a change. We’re delighted to welcome Governor Kemp back to our first Environmental Address since the pandemic hit. He’s part of a tradition launched in 2001 with then Governor Roy Barnes. We’ve also been honored to welcome former Governors Sonny Perdue and Nathan Deal to our stage. By combining the Address with the recognition of our 2022 ECoS Award winners and the granting of two scholarships to students from Georgia Gwinnett College, the result is a truly inspirational event that leaves our guests with the sense that we can positively impact the environment as long as we’re working together.”
Honoring five worthy individuals, companies and organizations, the Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful 2022 ECoS Awards will include the Connie Wiggins Environmental Legacy Award, Jim Steele Educator Award, Green Business Leader of the Year Award, Green Government of the Year Award, and the Green Community Partner of the Year Award.
The 14th Governor’s Environmental Address is presented by Primerica. Additional sponsors include Gwinnett County Government, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia Banking Co. and Precision Planning, among others. A number of sponsorships remain, although the window to appear in the event program has closed. Several sponsorships include tickets to the event. Individual tickets are $100/seat.
